This is why climbing this mountain is a challenge as well as an attraction. The area surrounding Annapurna is a very popular destination for trekking but also became the site of Nepal’s worst trekking disaster. The avalanches killed 43 people and 500 masses were rescued. There were more than 6 feet of snow in 12 hours.
