Consult to a Podiatrist:

It is inevitable for a diabetic patient to consult a Podiatrist at least after two months to know about the condition of his feet. This will keep him informed about the health of his feet. The podiatrist will also evaluate the neuropathy and blood supply rate to the feet. There are a few common issues like ingrown toenails, calluses, and corns should be treated as early as possible otherwise they will be ulcerated. Sometimes, problems like bunions are also seen which are related to orthopedics and need treatment as soon as possible. Moreover, if a wound becomes complicated and needs complete medical treatment, it is seen that such an issue is likely to recover soon if podiatric care is given with it.

Keep Checking your Feet Daily:

A diabetic patient has a low immunity level which is responsible for the low recovery rate of such patients when exposed to any cut or injury. The diabetic patient should probe his feet daily to see if there is any wound, cut, or injury on his feet which might be unnoticed because of neuropathy and low blood supply to such area. Furthermore, one should also look for other minimal changes and complications if legible on feet. This includes redness or bluishness of feet or rejuvenating pain from any former trauma or injury. There is a better chance of recovery if any such issue is examined early and treated before it gets worsened.

It is advised to check all the areas of your feet during your daily observation time. One should check between the finger, soles, and toes. If there is an issue like irritated skin, changing color of skin, wounds, and rashes; one must hurry to meet his podiatrist to get it treated before it deteriorates. If you find it difficult to observe your feet daily, you may ask someone to do it for you. Another tool is feet examination mirror which is easily available online. You can order these mirrors to examine your feet.

The diabetic patient may have many severe issues if poor fitting shoes are bought. Such shoes are the reasons for wounds and rashes on the feet. If a shoe is too tight and hard, it can cause little injuries and rashes that can deteriorate the foot health in no time. Similar results are seen if the shoes are loose and do not have a proper fitting. Due to this, the patient should buy shoes that are soft, comfortable, and properly fit his size. Extra-depth shoes available in the market are perfect for a diabetic patient. In contemporary days, there is a lot of variety in such shoes and can be found in the match with the clothes. Such shoes are available in abundance in the online market and traditional markets. In a few cases, commercial insurances also cover the cost of your shoes and details can be asked from your podiatrist.
