Tech Companies Who Are Changing Society
Technology has transformed the way people do the simplest most everyday things. Just the fact that the typewriter has been entirely replaced by email is in and of itself a major game changer. While the Internet has radically changed how people communicate with each other and businesses reach their target markets, companies around the world are not done with innovating by a long shot, however. The three below have changed society more than others.
Twitter and the "tweet"
Twitter has introduced the “tweet” into the social landscape. Not only is it a new word that has given us an active method with which we can share opinions, it’s an application that enables people who don't know each other to exchange ideas. It was a new powerful political messaging tool used during the last presidential election that helped candidates to reach voters. President Trump is an avid Twitter user who reinforces political support by tweeting constantly to reinforce his support from followers and argue with opponents. While tweeting may once have seemed recreational, it’s become an extension of the news media.
Tesla
Tesla is considered by many to be the most radical company in the United States. Its electric car is ecologically friendly. Furthermore, prior electric cars put on the market were not convenient for drivers to charge. Trying to be green minded was a burden. Tesla offers drivers electric cars as user-friendly as those that run on fuel, however. Tesla is selling a self-driving function to drivers who order it in advance. Its CEO Elon Musk assures those interested in having the ability to cruise on autopilot that the software that enables this new innovation will be available shortly.
Voice over Internet (VOIP)
Voice over Internet Protocol technology (VOIP) gives people the power to contact and be contacted by others for free for a really low price. Skype is the most well known company to harness VOIP to empower consumers. It’s no wonder that the average person associates the Skype brand with videoconferencing. It’s widely used in business, but the fact that it facilitates free high-definition video conversations between friends and family members across the globe makes it inarguably useful and popular. Although it has competitors, Skype still has 300 million users who benefit from the ease with which it can be used from their laptops and cell phones everyday.
Google
Google epitomizes social change, While anyone conducting research once had to rely on public libraries to gather data, now the same information is available at your fingertips by using Google search engine and Google Books. Google’s web dominance doesn’t end there. Its video sharing and streaming site YouTube is both an entertainment vehicle as well as a learning tool that a billion users depend on monthly to learn foreign languages and receive instruction in hosts of other topics. While Microsoft was once the most used operating system, Google’s Android has replaced it Technology has become excessive some say, especially those who feel that the average person spends too much time programming and tampering with devices. But no one can win an argument by claiming that the innovations offered to society by the above companies haven’t made managing everyday life easier as well as offered benefits that run the gamut from greater freedom of speech to access to unlimited amounts of information.
